Pediatric Sports Medicine
Our new sports medicine program is dedicated to providing children of all ages with the education and training they need to prevent injury while participating in all athletic and sporting activities. Regardless of a child’s level of ability, our program is committed to educating and treating children through a comprehensive sports medicine program focused not only on treating current injuries, but also on the prevention of future injuries.
Under the direction of Dr. Angela Gagliardi, the services provided by the Pediatric Sports Medicine Program include pre-participation physical examinations, treatment of athletic injuries, performing arts medicine and return-to-play decision making after injury or illness.
As one of the few physicians specializing in pediatric sports medicine in the area, Dr. Gagliardi has a special interest in concussion management and performs post-concussion neuropsychological testing to track the recovery process from injury to return-to-play.
Dr. Gagliardi and her staff believe that the key to prevention of sports and athletic injuries in children is through the empowerment of education.

Pre-Participation Sports Physical Exams (PPE)
Pre-participation physical examinations (PPE) are important to ensure the safety and health of children as they participate in athletic activities. These exams must be completed annually by a physician in order to determine if your child has developed any condition which would make it hazardous to participate in an athletic event.
Your child will also receive a baseline neuropsychiatric IMPACT test, which will aid in the management of possible future concussion injury. Please visit our concussion management section for additional information.
As a Pediatric Sports Medicine specialist, Dr. Gagliardi is uniquely qualified to evaluate your child for their PPE.
